Vuze (Azureus) search template for The Pirate Bay (TPB)

Categories: code, bittorrent

Vuze provides a built-in search function to make it easier to find bittorrent files that you want to download. And, it's extensible, so you can add new search "templates" for torrent sites beyond the ones that they support by default.

There's a Pirate Bay template floating around but it doesn't work any more, so I made up my own. And here it is:

Download The Pirate Bay (TPB) search template for Vuze.

To install this sucker, you can just double click the file. If that doesn't work, try this:

  1. Download it (duh)
  2. Do a search in Vuze
  3. On the right, it says "Show results from..." "All" and then some options, and then "Add/Edit". Click Add/Edit.
  4. Below the list, click "Import a new template"
  5. Browse to tpb.vuze and open it.

UPDATE: some people are having trouble. Please post your Vuze version # and operating system if it works, or doesn't.. maybe there's a pattern.

UPDATE #2: It seems that if you are running in a language other than English, this might not work. If you can confirm that I would appreciate it. Thanks.

UPDATE #3 2009-12-10: The Pirate Bay changed their format a bit, so I updated the template. Click the download link to get the new one.

Doesnt work either. On site 154 results. Via Vuze 0.

simon

You get nothing with this template? It works for me... (Vuze 4). Are you sure you deleted the old one before you loaded this one?

Thanks, and it works. I used other search template for thepiratebay and I had 4 results for Winnetou, and with your template I had all 10 results for Winnetou available now at thepiratebay web site. You made a good job.

GH

Just downloaded it, works great on newest version of VUZE...

Thanks!

ERQ

It doesn't work for me. When I click the link it just opens another page which only contains code. I tried to save the link, but it is saved as Html, and when I import it into vuze, I get no hits. What am I doing wrong???

H.S.

it works. thanks.

YOUSEF MAGHRABI

THANKS

simon

Thanks for the comments.

@ERQ: It's a .vuze file, but it's actually a text file. If you can import it into vuze, but get no hits, then maybe your search terms aren't in TPB, or maybe TPB is down, or otherwise blocked. Try searching on their website.

Eddy

I have tried various templates for TPB that I found on the web, but none of them work (0 results). Templates for others like Isohunt that I imported work fine. Can you sent me a screenshot of the edit screen in Vuze of a working TPB surch template? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance

Amazing!!!!!!!!! Great Program. I clicked "download", Vuze opened it automatically and added it to the search bar. I am using Vuze 4.0.0.4 Thank you very much.

simon

Does anyone know why the installs are failing for some people? It's such a simple process.

@Eddy: What operating system are you on? What version of Vuze are you running?

Eddy

Hello Simon

I have Vuze 4.0.0.4 installed and it runs under Vista.

Jan

Macosx Vuze 4.0.0.4

Template does not give results, yet tpb gives millions... Any ideas?

v4.0.4

not working (no results)

i meant 4.0.0.4

A mon avis, il faut utiliser une autre expression régulière au cas où le site piratebay est en français...

More from this category -> Plus de cette catégorie

I meant it doesn't work for other versions than english

simon

@ced: That would explain it, if you're getting results in french .. possibly I could submit a different search query that forces the results to be in English ... would that be OK?

so... is everyone that's not working using a language other than english? I wonder how Vuze determines which language to query the server in. Does Vuze automatically set itself to French or did you do that?

djdesi

Works like a charm :) Thanx alot

Jens

Works like a charm! Thank!

Matt

Downloaded and works fine just only on video surches, i need one for a wider selection of music that is proving had to find can find it on you tube but obviously it's in video format

max

thanx good job !

kurty

not working i have the most recent vuze

simon

@kurty—what language.

rocke

not working.... Vuze 4.0.0.4 English language

jay Hargis

Using latest 4.0.0.4 and MacOSx 10.5.6, all I get is gibberish (no discoverable file).

sean Robey

Like other posters, all I get when I click the link is a new page with gibberish. Im using v4.1.0.0 for mac. although others have posted about this problem, no-one has provided an answer

Nander

Not working here. My Vuze is in French, so the problems seems to be with non-English versions of Vuze as your second updates suggested.

Is there a way to change just Vuze to English (and keep the rest of OSX in French)? I'm in France studying and having my computer in French is a great way to learn useful words.

simon

@Nander. Thanks for confirming that. I did not find any way to set Vuze to a particular language. They seem to currently default to the system language. But they could use their own language if they implemented that. You should file a bug or post on their support board about this. I would suggest that they allow users to set the language that is used to retrieve results, or perhaps allow the template author to specify the language that is requested.

Otherwise I would have to write a template for every single language on earth, which is obviously impossible!

Rider

Just a little more info for you, Simon. I'm using Vuze 4.2 and Leopard 10.5.6 with the OS in Spanish (which means that Vuze is also in Spanish) and your template isn't working either. So yes, it maybe the language. Damm!

visitor

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for!

Travis

Link no longer works

simon

Link is fixed & restored. Thanks for notifying me.

Agemini

I'm Italian... the search template won't work in italian either in english

Link no longer works!

simon

OK it's fixed... hopefully for good this time!!!!!

Salvo

I tried, I see the pirate bay icon on the left but always no results with it..Don't understand.

For other than English, you can try piratebay.vuze template made by pupok, published on vuze forum. Works for Slovak localization of Vuze ver 4.2.0.2 on top of GNU/Linux. Though the template isn't as advanced as simon's one.

Cërf

Works like a charm!

Lang: spanish

Vuze info box:

Java 1.6.0_11 Sun Microsystems Inc. SWT v3448, win32 Windows XP v5.1, x86 V4.2.0.4 az3

Works great.

=== STEP BY STEP FOR SNOW LEOPARD AND THE LATEST VUZE ===

  1. Click to download file.

It will appear in your d/l folder (or wherever folder you're currently downloading to) as a text file "Unknown". Rename it TPB.vuze.

  1. Click add/edit In the Vuze UI search menu on the right. You'll get a popup and towards the bottom there's a link to "create a custom template". Click it.

  2. You'll then get a screen with "CREATE NEW TEMPLATE" and on the left there's a button for "IMPORT FROM FILE". Click it and find the file you just renamed TPB.vuze.

  3. You'll get a screen filled in with the "gibberish" and a file name and the TPB URL all set. You just have to put in a test search term like "Fringe", scroll down, hit the CONTINUE button.

  4. On the next page, "test search results", you'll get a readout which you can ignore. Just hit "FINISH".

  5. ???

  6. PROFIT!

  7. PROFIT.

razor1049

AWESOME!!!! Thanks

John

Works well for me.

Mac OSX 10.6.1 Vuze 4.2.0.8

Thanks a lot.

alois

Unfortunately no go here. OSX 10.5.8, Vuze 4.3.0.4; Tried the option ODB suggested above. Hitting 'Preview' outputs lots of stuff into the window and it clearly contains correct results. Hitting 'Continue' gives either a message like 'No results found' or Vuze goes into race condition (100% CPU) so I have to force quit it.

simon

TPB has changed their format a bit. I'll post an update RSN.

simon

updated... it works once again :-)

Yes I too was also fond of Vuze downloads. The reason why so many of Vuze's fans loved it was because it was free and freebees like Vuze is what attracts supporters for Vuze. Internet viewers of Vuze prefer (not) to pay like as if it's a pay pro version because of the spam, scams and spyware which leads to virus infections and worm bugs to PC users to reflect onto the community of other PC users. Most of the Vuze staff are in court from charges of piracy and the major giant movie cinemas WB and Walt Disney in particular from most of the Hollywood movie stars. The mega rich movie stars are super rich and are suing poor pirates for more money as if they can't get enough. They are suing poor pirate victims because the rich boys want their fat cats to get fatter as long as it feeds their own wallets as if they don't care about the poor just their own bank accounts.

The Vuze staff have been charged with piracy from handing out too many freebees. The freebees of free movie downloads is the beauty of Internet downloading, there should be more of it. The Vuze pirates and Prirate Bay staff have been stopped but there will be many more to come yet. Pirate Bay has been re-sold and probably working with Limewire. We are in the 21st Century when the Internet free movie downloading replaces the old 20th Century cinemas which are obsolete movie technology and have adjusted and adapted to the new times. It's a waste of time going the movie cinemas to watch movies where there are other heads blocking the view of the wide cinema screen so not only we can't see anything we can't hear anything because of the entire cinema would be screaming and laughing at the movie extremely loud so the movie cinema viewer doesn't know what the story of the movie was about. This is going to be a long war between the super mega rich movie stars and the pirate poor Internet movie downloaders who the poor people out number the mega rich. There's a whole wide world of Internet movie PC user downloaders who prefer the freebees and the (whole wide world) cannot be charged with piracy. Therefore there should be more Internet free movies sites like Vuze if it's that impossible for Vuze to function again.

simon

@Geoff I think you're confused, none of the people involved in Vuze are in jail. Some of the original founders of the Pirate Bay did face some jail time but TPB is up and running, just as good as ever.

Both Vuze and TPB are going along fine.

Commercial junk mail ads pay for the free movie sites that made Vuze so popular. Limewire and Edonkey, also have junk mail ads on it which pays for the running of Vuze, Limewire and Edonkey to function and all other freebees like that which is what PC users prefer (not) the pay pro version. If PC users are concerned for for their PC's health and safety, that's why anti adware exists. Pay pro versions of Vuze, Limewire and Edonkey where PC users have to leave their user name and password is supplying information to hackers on the Internet which is how many PCs can get infections and often do, that's where anti adware protection is so helpful.

A friend of mine neighbour in fact was penalised for downloading a movie; (Angels And Demonds) and had received a letter that he used Pirate Bay to download it. His server blocked his Internet and constantly watching his Internet motives. But I find that Pirate Bay works for me and is popular and good for downloading free movies.

The Pirate Bay searches for files but either Vuze or Limewire will download them. Vuze is not working at all Limewire saved the day, it is working.

simon

Dude, stop spamming my comments :-)

Jon

Good work dude.

works vuze 4.3.0.4 osx 10.6.2

Luís

Don´t work with V4.3.0.6/4 az3. No result in Vuze, million in site.

Bob

to download and install :

ctrl-click on the download link. select "save as". save the file as tpb.vuze to your desktop ... if the dialog box opens to ask you if you want to append a suffix to the file name, select 'do not append'. open vuze. click on the tpb vuze icon on your desktop. vuze will ask you if you want to install it. click yes. voila, it works beautifully. Note: if you already have an old pirate bay template on your vuze, delete it first.

Dayf

Doesn't work on V4.3.0.6/4 az3. No results.

D

Doesnt work on V4.3.0.6/4 az3. No results.

brian

I'm running Vuze 4.3 on Mac os x 10.6 and at first when i would click on your down load it would just take me to another web page with text on it. For people having the same problem, right click the link and save linked file to downloads. Then go to vuze, add/ edit click import a new template and open the file you saved in downloads. It'll create your custom template for you all u have to do is enter a search term and click continue, then save on the next page and your good to go. Good Luck and thanks alot Simon works like a charm.

unlend

V4.3.0.6/4 az3 Windows Vista v6.0, x86 (yeah, i know)

appears to be working fine.. thanx simon
