What happened to Sphera Software?

It was a mac shareware company that made some great games: Scramble in particular, was a lot like the current Word Challenge game on Facebook, and then there was Spin Crisis, and a CHM reader called Chimp... and now they are gone without a trace. Their old domain takes you to some band.

All I know that isn't available on google is that when I emailed them, the response was from Shawn Henry. Shawn, if you're out there—what happened?

Update: Here's Sphera Software's home page on the Wayback Machine. It identifies the following people as having been part of Sphera: Shawn Henry (head programmer, student in Ottawa), Neale McDavitt (graphic designer, Montreal), Michael Keogh (musician, Ottawa), Anca Szilagyi (wordsmith, Brooklyn). It looks like several of them were students, and maybe the company broke up when they graduated.

Unfortunately they didn't leave forwarding addresses. But I'm sure you can find some of them if you google.

I downloaded Sphera's Powder years ago, to have snow falling on my desktop either with the pictures they supplied or my own choice of background. I think it cost me about $7 but was well worth it. I've just installed in on my new Macbook pro and it works fine; a bit temperamental when getting started at times, but once the snow is falling it looks great! Children love to see snow falling, especially if I put a photo with them in it as background and the snow falls on them. I'm sure there are other snow downloads out there that are maybe more sophisticated, but this one is fun and easy to use.

Sorry to hear Sphera are no longer around, but am glad to have this opportunity of thanking them for their work. :-)

Wow, stumbled across this by accident. I was the designer who worked on all the Sphera projects.

Short story: programmer got a job working for a big software company, and we had to put the project on ice. We had website problems and never really resolved them (our bad).

I am working on an iPhone game, very much along the lines of the old Sphera stuff, which I hope will be out in a month or two. It's a word puzzle game with similarities to Scramble.

Anyhow, I'm glad you liked the software.

I want to use your application "Chimp 1.1" for personal use. Would you give a license Code for "CHimp"
